I am a Changemaker because I think it is incumbent that each of us, in the ways that we can, take our journeys and affect change in the world.

About Stacey

Stacey Rice is a transgender woman who found her way to Portland, Oregon and the beautiful Pacific Northwest from the North Carolina mountains over 5 years ago. Stacey is Executive Co-Director of Q Center which is Portland’s LGBTQ+ community center serving close to 20,000 visitors a year and she works to make it a vital presence in the Portland metro area. Stacey loves working at Q Center because she has seen first hand how having a place for community to gather change’s people’s lives and provides help to those who need it most.

In 2016 Stacey was recognized by the Gay and Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest as a Queer Hero NW for her work at Q Center and in the greater Portland community.  She has been a leader in regards to transgender issues such as safe shelter, workforce development and by sharing the incredibly difficult and joyous journey of being a transgender person.

In her spare time, you will find Stacey out wandering the backroads, hiking to her favorite spots, sitting under a big tree somewhere deep in the woods or heading out to Willamette Valley wine country. She feels incredibly blessed to call Portland home.
